Premier Oilfield Rentals Announces Joint Venture In Kazakhstan

Aberdeen-headquartered, oilfield equipment rental specialists, Premier Oilfield Rentals, has announced a new joint venture which will see it expand its operations into the Caspian region.

Premier-Borkit Oilfield Services LLP, has been formed as a result of a formal link-up between the company and Borkit International Ltd – a Kazakhstan-based organisation with over ten years experience of supplying goods and services to the oil industry in and around the country.

The new company will operate from a purpose-built facility in Aktau, Kazakhstan, which is scheduled to open early next year.

The 12,000sqm site will encompass a machine shop – equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment – as well as office facilities, an inspection area, warehouse and storage yard.

Managing Director of Premier Oilfield Rentals, Russell Crofts, says he is excited by the recent development and is confident the new company will be a real success.

He said: “This joint venture unites two well-established, reliable, customer focused and quality-orientated organisations; our aim being to provide the Caspian region with a ‘one-stop’ oilfield services company of the highest standard.

“This is another positive move for Premier Oilfield Rentals – marking our arrival in the Caspian region – and is further demonstration of our continued strong growth and international expansion.”

Imad Salem, General Director of Borkit International added: “This agreement helps move Borkit onto the next level and I look forward to what I believe will be a long and successful relationship between the two companies.”

Around 15 local jobs are expected to be created at the new facility in Aktau following the formation of Premier-Borkit Oilfield Services LLP – representatives of which will be in attendance at the forthcoming Kazakhstan International Oil & Gas Exhibition 2008 (KIOGE) in Almaty, from October 7-10.

Premier Oilfield Rentals is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Superior Energy Services Inc. The company has over 35 years experience of providing top quality drilling tools, OCTG products and tubular handling equipment to customers around the world.

As well as its Aberdeen headquarters, the company also has a base in Great Yarmouth, servicing the Southern UK sector and a growing network of international locations covering Continental Europe, The Middle East, West Africa and Asia Pacific.

Borkit International has a well-established reputation in Kazakhstan, with a presence in a number of cities and extensive experience of representing Western companies in the Caspian region.
